Early Christmas Present!

Every year for Christmas, my dad makes my brother's and I a piece of furniture, anything we want. Over the years, we have realized how fortunate we are to have someone so close to us that not only enjoys making furniture but has the skill. Purchasing furniture is EXPENSIVE and most of it is pretty much crap. This year, Doug, Billy and I all moved into new houses, so you can imagine we all pretty much knew right away what we wanted.

Our living room pre-Christmas present.

When Matt and I built the house, we had intentions of built in cabinets next our fireplace in our living room. When we were clearing trees to build the house, one of the trees that had to be cut down was a walnut tree. The majority of the furniture dad has build for us in the past has been out of walnut. We knew we had to save the tree somehow, so we had the tree cut into boards and dried.

So this year, Matt and I asked for those cabinets as our Christmas gift. They are absolutely gorgeous, perfect, and a complete work of art. Dad incorporated everything in the design we need for the functionality and completely surpassed our expectation! We have two DVD drawers, and one cabinet dedicated to the components for our surround sound, DVD player, and whole house audio. A million times better than the black bookcase from Target we had been using.

The final product!
Thank you so much dad! We are so happy with our cabinets and it completes the look of our living room! You are the best!
