The weekend following the Larry Bird events, Matt and I headed to Florida for a much needed vacation! While they were deicing the airplane on the runway, I realized it was a much needed escape from the frigid weather marking winter. We are fortunate that his family has a condo in Ft. Myers that we can use, which really cuts down on the cost of a get away! However, we figured it had been since January of 2012 since we had last visited.

Since we frequent the area, we have many favorite restaurants and shops that we always try to get to. This time we tried to do some things that we haven't done before. We both love Sanibel Island so I had the idea to rent bicycles and ride around the island. They have a ton of bike paths, similar to Hilton Head Island. We had a great time riding around and rode to one of our favorite lunch places,
Gramma Dot's at the Sanible Marina. Not only is the food outstanding, but we always love looking at the yachts docked up. Needless to say, even after the lunch break, our rear ends were so sore we decided it was time to turn the bikes in.

Lovely company and lovely view!
I think the best discovery of the trip came at
Nemo's on the Beach. Matt's great aunt and uncle eat lunch at Nemo's everyday while they are in Florida. So on our first day at the beach, we decided we would stop in to Nemo's for lunch to see if they were there - and they were! It was great catching up with them while sitting beachfront. We had planned on renting beach chairs so we could get an umbrella, but Nemo's has chairs and umbrellas for their customers to use. We were very excited and went back everyday that we went to the beach. You can't beat free chairs and waitress on the beach!

Christmas tree on the beach at Mucky Duck!

Driving with the top down is my favorite!
One of our most favorite places to go for a drink and to watch the sunset is the
Mucky Duck at Captiva Island. They have a beautiful beachfront restaurant with an adorable patio where they almost always have a live musician. If you ever go to the Mucky Duck, which I highly suggest, I recommend trying their wine margaritas - they are delicious!
After five days at the beach, it was time to head back to cold Indiana to prepare for Thanksgiving!
