And then there was ONE!

I have had on my list for a number of days now "blog". But somehow, I just can't seem to get around to it. There has been A LOT of activity lately and it is with great joy, excitement and relief that I tell you we only have one mortgage! Within two weeks we closed on Matt's condo (5/24) and closed on my house (6/3). In the meantime, we moved into our new home and have been living there for a week now. It feels so surreal.

It was a little sad leaving our little house. We really enjoyed our neighbors next door and especially their 5 year old son, Nolan. We had a lot of great memories in that house and loved the climbing rose bush! It was being choked out by poison ivy and we brought it back! So gorgeous and just really made the patio area that Matt and my dad worked so hard on. But the couple that bought the house is super excited and I think will love the house as we did.

Matt's Mom Cleaning

I told Matt I didn't want to move in until all the work was done because I didn't want people in and out of my house all day while I was at work. Well, if I had it my way, we would be homeless because people are still arriving daily to "finish" various tasks. Our builder promised us the house would be completed the Friday before Memorial Day weekend (5/24). You would think I had learned my lesson through this whole process. I suppose it was done to his standards but not to ours.

Sunday and Monday of Memorial Day weekend were busy with lots of help from our parents and friends in the area cleaning and moving. I have no idea how we had so much "stuff" in our little house. It must multiply while in the basement, the multiply again on the moving truck. With the help of my mother and mother-in-law, all of our wedding gifts are now unpacked, washed and in the cabinets ready for us to use. It is so nice having so much space and new things to use. However, we did fill up the kitchen and pantry pretty quickly.

The last two weeks have been a blur trying to unpack, go through things and decided where to put everything. We have a pretty nice size pile going in the garage for a yard sale. We were able to get enough stuff sorted through to park my car in the garage last night. Once all the workers things are gone and we get some shelving up, we will be good to go and Matt will be parking in the garage too!

Although we haven't decided on cable or satellite yet, we did get the couch set up. We haven't had much time at all to sit and relax on it. Currently, the couch is serving as a great area to fold laundry! I think the picture to the left was taken right after we set it up. As you can see, Matt and I can both sit on it without touching! :) Hopefully soon we will be able to kick our feet up and watch a movie or even just the news!

  2. I'm so excited to see this in person in a few months! Mark and I bought a couch a few months ago and we definitely sat on it and talked about how we didn't have to touch if we didn't want to! It was amazing so I totally understand! :)
