Dad's shop has been extra busy this spring. We have spent a number of weekends in Frankton working on a few different projects for the house. To be honest, Dad and Matt do most of the work, but the last few times, I have been assigned sanding, the best job (sarcasm). However, sanding is one of the most important jobs! So what have we been doing? Well, we all know my closet is a big deal to me...and organization is an even bigger deal. Matt and I knew right away that we wanted our closet system to be nice and not the builder grade wire racks that go in. We met with a few different companies and eventually decided that with the help of my dad, we could make something just as nice and for way less money!
In addition to my closet and Matt's closet, we made the pantry shelving as well as the built-in bookcases beside the fireplace in the hearth room. We will also be making built-in bookcases to go beside the fireplace in the living room. Those will be made out of walnut, which happens to be from a tree we cut down on the lot.
I had to capture the boys hard at work in "heaven" as dad calls it. Believe it or not, these pictures were from two different weekends, they just both wear the same work clothes every time :)

Our builder told Matt there was no way he could get the built-in's for the hearth room done in one weekend. The deal was if we had them done by Monday, they painter would paint them for us. Well it sounded like a challenge to Matt and dad and what do you know? Yes, they were done in 1 weekend and set and ready to be painted by Monday. Both bookcases are painted as well as the decorative pieces around the fireplace. It looks awesome! Unfortunately I don't have a picture of it so you will all just have to wait and see it some other time. I will have to do a Shop Part II when everything is installed in the house - which will hopefully be in the next 10 days or so. We have to wait for the flooring to go down first!

ReplyDeleteI know, I am very fortunate! I would love for you to come down and see it when you are home! Please book me into your schedule. Our target date is Memorial Day weekend for the move. We'll just have to wait and see if that happens or not. :)
