There is a Light!

We are getting close, really close. I think it's time to start the countdown. The only problem is I'm not sure when the end will be, although I can see the finish line! We got news today that Matt's condo should close next week and we are still on track to close on the house we live in on May 29. Let's just say I am starting to get really nervous and stressed about the move. I thought I was going to be able to start moving a little at a time to the new house, but it doesn't look like it will pan out that way! The picture at the right is of Justin, Kim, myself and Matt eating the "first meal" at the new house. We are sitting on the back patio eating Jimmy Johns on a rainy Saturday afternoon, of course it was just a lunch break for the boys while they worked on electrical.

Over the last 2 weeks, there has been a TON of progress and it is so nice to be able to go to the house each night and see something new done.  The brickwork on the house is complete. They came back and washed it all down. It looks great and we couldn't be more happy with it. We ordered a nice new sofa (which I think I might have already mentioned). Last week, or recently rather, (all my weeks are running together, so I apologize in advance), they poured our sidewalk to the front of the house and the front and back porch. This week they added the steps to the front door and started pouring the driveway. They couldn't get it all done due to the rain :(  Hopefully they will get the rest of it done next week.

The shower in the master bath is tiled. We are so happy with how it turned out. The master shower was one of the only things Matt was super concerned about and I think he is really going to love it. The shower head is extra tall so he doesn't have to have the water hit the middle of his chest.

The vinyl was laid in the laundry room, back entry from the garage and the guest bathrooms, which finally allowed the bathroom and laundry room cabinets to be set. Counter tops went on in all the bathrooms and tonight, we started to see toilets and faucets!

Last night we purchased all the hardware for our cabinets. It wasn't as easy as I thought it was going to be. Of course we knew what color pallet we wanted to be in, but the the coolest knobs were either special order items or $10. I am really happy with what we purchased - and it didn't break the bank! I can't wait to see them on.

Saturday we picked out all of the tile for the back splash in the kitchen.  It was one of the more difficult things to get inspiration for. The back splash we have in our current house is white tile with blue flecks and floral tile sprinkled in. So anything was going to be an upgrade for us!

The painter wrapped up the first of the week. He will be back for some touch ups in places and hopefully he will help me with my yellow wall in the kitchen. I really liked the swatch but once it was on the wall, it was BRIGHT! Not exactly what I was envisioning. The fireplace mantle was completed and painted and it looks awesome! It turned out much better than what I had pictured.

The hardwood flooring is currently being installed and the plumbers say they will have all the fixtures on by the weekend. Matt and Justin continue to work after work to install lights room by room. Its really starting to come together, however timing is everything. I will leave you with my favorite picture - the kitchen counter tops (notice the neon looking yellow wall). They were delayed almost 10 days from the original install date, but oh are they pretty! I love them...and guess what? Matt picked them out!
