Bonge's

Getting everyone together to celebrate birthdays, much less any holiday is becoming increasingly harder, which I absolutely hate! In September we all got together to celebrate mom and I's birthdays. We all love the atmosphere and food at Bonge's Tavern and decided to take a chance at getting a table, after all it was a beautiful fall day!

You might ask why I say take a chance at getting a table? Well one of the most interesting things about Bonge's is they do not take reservations for groups of 10 or less and they have a very small dining room. This creates a parking lot party or "tailgate" if you will. We had nine in our party so we arrive shortly before 3:00 p.m. to stake claims and set up the tailgate.
Tailgating!
Waiting in the parking lot.
The hostess comes out promptly at 4:30 to start taking names and assigning dining times. Our arrival time was perfect and we were the first people in the parking lot. Doug put a chair right by the door and we were in business for being first in line to get a table. Thankfully Doug didn't mind sitting at the door (as long as his wine glass was full) and as the lined started to form, he had a lot of new friends that were all quick to inform rookies to the program how the line and putting your name in worked.

We were very fortunate and got in the first seating time. One of my favorite things about Bonge's is they have a chalkboard menu with the main dishes and whatever the chef makes for sides it what you get, until it runs out of course. You can always count on the Perkinsville Pork and Sutuffed Duck Breast to be on the menu. Matt loves the duck and Mom almost always gets the pork.

Bonge's is a great hidden gem in Madison County. You can always count on having a great meal and fun in the parking lot tailgating. I love the fun atmosphere and vintage style it has. One of my favorites is the mural that is painted on the outside of the building.

We had a great time enjoying the company of family. Happiest of Birthday's to my mom and Cheers to 27 for me!
